Challenge Protocol:
1. Review your reflection pages in A Teacher’s Guide to Reflective Practice: Applying the Art and Science of Teaching (pages 2-24). Have you seen any growth?
2. Self reflect using A Teacher’s Guide to Reflective Practice: Applying the Art and Science of Teaching (pages 25-33).
3. Review your Instructional Craft Knowledge sheet and add strategies, as needed.
4. On your Padlet (due October 24th):
  • Update your current rating for your DQ1 & DQ6 & DQ2,3,4 goals and add to the appropriate boxes on your Padlet.
  • Create a box for DQ5 and write your goal. Give yourself a 0-4 rating for the strategy based on A Teacher’s Guide to Reflective Practice: Applying the Art and Science of Teaching (pages ).
5. On the G+ Community (due November 7th):
  • Reflect on your DQ5 goal. (Why did you choose this goal? What worked? What didn’t work? How many times did you try it? Did you attempt more than one goal?)

3. On your Padlet (due September 5th):
  • Create a box for D1 and write your goal: I will TRY posting the objective on the board each day. OR I will keep a list of positive phrases on my desk and TRY to use one of theses phrases every day. OR I will TRY having students track their own progress using a chart.
  • Create a box for D6 and write your goal: I will TRY the regrouping routine of “clap clap clap clap clap. OR I will TRY “fist to five” as a formative assessment routine to check for understanding.
4. On the G+ Community (due September 19th):
  • Reflect on your DQ1 Goal. (Why did you choose this goal? What worked? What didn’t work? How many times did you try it? Did you attempt more than one goal?)

Action Research Project Resources (timeline)


  1. Please post a brief summary of your Project Information Sheet (PIS) by February 12, 2015.
  2. Conduct pretest, implement strategy, and conduct posttest by March 17, 2015.
  3. Complete the Action Research Scoresheet (spreadsheet) and submit to jjohnson@esu6.net by March 20, 2015. Please title the document with your teacher code (e.g., JJ628). Teacher codes are located here.
  4. Jill will submit all projects to REL Central on March 27, 2015.
  5. Complete the Stakeholder Feedback Survey for REL at Marzano Research.
  6. Reflect on your project using the Reflection Worksheet (single group design) or the Reflection Worksheet (multiple group design).
